Overview
Action College partnered with Young Entrepreneurs Rwanda to deliver a practical and professional Barista training program. This initiative targeted youth in urban and rural communities aiming to join the hospitality industry.
Approach
The training was conducted at our REMERA and KICUKIRO branches, using state-of-the-art espresso machines and real café setups. We included modules on customer service, hygiene, coffee bean sourcing, latte art, and café business management.
Challenges
We faced a shortage of commercial machines in some branches and addressed this by rotating the machines between campuses and offering virtual theory classes during wait times.
Result
Over 100 students certified within the first month. 20 students were directly employed by local cafés after graduation. Barista training is now a permanent offering at Action College
